WINDOWS 95 INTERNET SETUP
Setup Dial-Up Networking
- Double click on your My Computer icon.
- Double Click Dialup Networking.
- If you have a connection icon for Sierra
Tel Internet already, skip down to step 8,
otherwise, please continue with step 4.
- If you currently do not have a connection
icon for Sierra Tel Internet, double click
on the Make New Connection icon.
- Name your connection (STI would be a perfect
name).
- Enter the Sierra Tel Internet Access Numuber
that is closest to you.
- Click OK and the new STI icon should appear.
- Right click this icon and go to Properties.
The following screen will appear:

- Fill out the area code and phone number
for the area located nearest to you.
- Choose
the modem you will be using. This will probably
already be selected for you.
- Now, click the Server Type... button from
your connection dialog box. You will see the
following screen:

- In the Type of Dialup Server pull-down menu,
make sure PPP is selected.
- Under Advanced options: select Enable Software
Compression only.
- Under
Allowed network protocols: select TCP/IP only.
- Click
the TCP/IP settings button. You will see the
following screen:

- Make
sure that Server Assigned IP address is selected.
- Make
sure that Server Assigned Name Server Addresses
is selected.
- Select
Use IP Header Compression and Use Default
Gateway.
- Click
OK until you are back at your STI connection
icon.
- Right
click on the STI icon.
- Left
click on Create Shortcut
- Windows
will prompt you that a shortcut can not be
created here, but would you the like the shortcut
placed on the desktop instead ?
- Click
Yes
- Now
click on X in upper right corner of window
closing Dial Up Networking.
Time
to Connect!
- Double
click on STI icon located on your desktop.
- Fill
in your login and password in the dialog box
that appears on your screen. Optionally, you
can choose to save the password. This will
eliminate the necessity to type in your password
in future.
- Click
the Connect button.
