- Initial Installation
First, check the lights on the DSL router. The
Power light should be green. The DSL/ACT should
usually be amber. The LAN lights should be amber
or green.
A. If the Power light is not on, check the off/on
switch at the back of the router and the electrical
connection.
B. If the LAN light is off, make sure the Ethernet
cable is securely plugged into the Ethernet
port on the DSL router and the Ethernet card
at the back or side of your computer.
C. If the DSL/ACT light is off, make sure there
are no splitters or filters on the phone cord
that runs from the phone jack that the DSL service
is on to the DSL port on the DSL router.
The
next thing to check is the configuration of
your Ethernet card (also known as the Network
card). Click on the appropriate link for your
operating system: Windows
95 -
Windows 98 - Windows
Me - Windows
NT - Windows
2000 - Windows
XP.
